See, you got five strings, three picks, and an infinite world of possibilities."

Bobby Dickson

Did you know: The banjo is the only true American musical invention! Tracing its roots back to Africa in instruments like the Akonting, the banjo is a true original. And yet, it has cousins all over the planet. In Japan, they play the Shamisen. In India, the Sarod. In Turkey, the Cümbüş. The point is, you take a drum, you stick some strings on it, and you’ve got one of the world’s most compelling sounds. While there are many types of modern banjo, the Five-String Banjo reigns supreme. Perhaps the most crucial element of Bluegrass music, its dazzling speed and charming tone are, for most, irresistible.

The great Earl Scruggs, the originator of modern three-finger Bluegrass banjo playing, started it all. Ever since, novices and professionals alike have striven to emulate his speed, feel, and ingenuity. That’s our bread and butter!
